2023-05

It is official, Volvo has opened the order books for its third electric vehicle, the all-new Volvo C40 Recharge, for the South African market in less than two years.

The C40 Recharge is the first Volvo model to be designed as pure electric only and the first to come with a leather-free interior. Instead, it offers high-quality and sustainable upholstery, and we at CMH Volvo Cars Bryanston are super excited to showcase this fully electric vehicle to our customers in May 2023.

This all-new compact newcomer is powerful and surprisingly practical, with a smooth low roofline and striking rear-end design to contribute to its aerodynamic shape, yet still offers the high seating position that most Volvo customers prefer. The Ultimate trim level on the model means the vehicle is well-spaced with standard items such as electrically adjustable front seats, seat heating (both front and rear), a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone charging, and two-zone climate control.

Volvo Genuine Wiper Blades
Review by Rokkit
27th
2021-10

As the rainy season approaches, it’s imperative that you replace your windshield wiper blades for the sake of your safety and that of others. CMH Volvo Cars Bryanston recommends that you change your wiper blades once a year.

Volvo Genuine wiper blades

Many factors can affect the performance of your wiper blades, such as extreme weather conditions, moisture, heavy use, and ageing, which can cause them to lose their elasticity.

Signs to look out for when your wiper blades are worn out:

  • Skipping: if the wiper blade deforms the blade lip that may cause the windscreen vail effect.
  • Vibrating: Wear and tear or ageing that results in noisy movements across the windscreen. dirt, oil, and airborne contaminants also cause wear and tear on the rubber of the blades.
  • Squeaking: occurs when the wiper element is misshapen or worn out.
  • Lifting: when the wiper blades miss out on parts of the windscreen due to lifting, the wiper arm or blades should be replaced.
  • Streaking: This occurs when the rubber blades of the wipers harden and crack. It leaves gaps where water is not removed properly from the windscreen.

Volvo Genuine wiper blades

Why use Volvo Genuine wiper blade:

  • Volvo wiper blades have the best durability, which allows the blade to perform well both in hot and cold weather.
  • Volvo Genuine wiper blades undergo a stringent test before approval, for the wipers to give an all-round performance.

Part Number

Volvo Genuine wiper blades contain graphite levels to ensure better contact with the windshield and reduce noise and vibration. Volvo Genuine wiper blades have the right rubber quality.

Short Version

CMH Volvo Cars Bryanston is currently running a 20% off special on Volvo Genuine wiper blades. For more contacts us on 0877248874.

Volvo aims to grow partnership with Google for next generation safe and connected user experience – CMH Volvo Cars Bryanston

2021-08

By now anyone that has been following Volvo Cars press releases will know that Volvo has pledged to be fully electric by the year 2030. Locally, Volvo has started to introduce the first of these electric vehicles namely the fully electric Volvo XC40 P8. Although most of the vehicles on the roads on South African roads still use the traditional international combustion engines the rest of the world plans to do away with these vehicles in the next few years. But besides electric vehicles what else do Volvo plan to do to make consumers driving experience as seamless and comfortable as possible.

Google Assistant Tech Volvo

Volvo Car Group is the first car manufacturer to produce vehicles with an informative system powered by Android Automotive OS with Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play built in. Volvo plans to continue with this strategy and utilise Android Automotive OS in all its next generation fully electric vehicles.

Cellphone App

Chief Technology officer at Volvo Cars Group has been quote saying: “Our teams have spent a lot of time with Google to further develop and improve our user experience for the next generation of Volvo cars. Especially in terms of safety, serenity, and simplicity, we have made great strides thanks to a deeper integration of design and technological development. We are convinced that it will allow us to create even better Volvo cars and set a new industry standard.”

How Hybrids work and what are their benefits? – CMH Volvo Cars Bryanston
Review by Rokkit
29th
2021-06

Climate change is a topic that world leaders, business owners and citizens are all too familiar with. There is no longer any doubt that human activity is changing the climate on our planet and this change is happening faster than most experts originally predicted. According to a January 2021 climate report published by the National Centres for Environmental Information in America, the land and ocean surface temperature was 0.80 Degrees Celsius above the 20th-century average. It was the seventh warmest January in the 142-year global records. Everyone needs to start playing their parts in getting this crisis under control. Car manufactures are heeding the call and are turning to hybrid vehicles to bring down carbon emissions. There are 3 types of hybrid vehicles namely mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric vehicles.

Hybrids XC90
Hybrids charging

Volvo is one of the first luxury car manufacturers to release a plug-in hybrid as a flagship vehicle. The XC90 T8 has impressive safety technology but not much is understood about how its engine works. A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) uses two engines. The T8 is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo- and supercharged petrol engine providing 235kW of power and an electric motor which produces 65 kW of power.

T8 Badge

It’s quite an impressive combination of technology and one that not only reduces carbon emissions but also makes the vehicle perform better. The XC90’s braking also recharges the battery using kinetic energy. This process is called regenerative braking.

Hybrids Regenerative Braking

Volvo shows no sign of stopping the innovation from moving forward. Earlier this year CEO of Volvo Cars Håkan Samuelsson was quoted saying: “To remain successful, we need profitable growth. So instead of investing in a shrinking business, we choose to invest in the future – electric and online. We are fully focused on becoming a leader in the fast-growing premium electric segment.”

All Volvo’s will be fully Electric by 2030 – CMH Volvo Cars Bryanston
Review by Rokkit
26th
2021-04

Volvo has long been in the game of changing to meet consumers demands. Climate change is a real existential crisis for consumers and manufacturers of vehicles. Data from the UN shows carbon emissions are still on the rise and are highly unlikely to change within the next decade. As a result, the responsibility for individuals to start making lifestyle changes is more important than ever.

Fully Electric Volvo Vehicle

Volvo recognises the rising demand for more environmentally friendly products and is meeting the demand by announcing they will only be selling fully electric vehicles (EV’s) by the end of the decade. What is even more exciting is that you will only be able to purchase these vehicles online.

Chief Technology Officer Henrik Green was quoted “There is no long-term future for cars with an internal combustion engine. The transition to selling only electric cars will allow Volvo to meet the expectations of our customers and be a part of the solution when it comes to fighting climate change.”

VOC Online App
VOC App

In the last few weeks, Volvo has announced the first of the fully electric which is the C40. The C40 is very similar to the XC40 but its external cosmetics are completely different. The fully electric XC40 will be making its way to the South African market sometime in 2021. Orders for the XC40 have started in April meaning there will be a huge drive by Volvo South Africa to introduce this vehicle to our market and make it a viable option for South African consumers who are climate conscious. Greg Maruszewski, Managing Director at Volvo Car South Africa has been quoted saying; “The XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is capable of travelling more than 400 km on a single charge. “It can be charged to 80% of its battery capacity in as little as 40 minutes using a fast charger.”

CMH Volvo Cars Bryanston will communicate once the first of the electric vehicles hit our showroom floor. Be sure to keep an eye on our social media pages for more information.

The Fully Electric XC40 is making its way to CMH Volvo Cars Bryanston
Review by Rokkit

THE ELECTRIC VOLVO CX40

Fully Electric Volvo XC40

The Fully Electric Volvo XC40 is making its way to CMH Volvo Cars Bryanston! It is no secret that human driven climate change is reshaping our world. The consequences of climate change are severe. The most notable event in recent memory happened last year in Australia where wildfires destroyed nearly 18.6 million hectares of land. Humans and Animals in those regions, many of which lost their lives, are still recovering from the event. The responsibility to create a future built on clean energy is vital for the future of humanity. Sustainability is no longer a conversation but a necessity. Volvo as a brand understands the challenges that lie ahead and as a result have put plans into motion to be part of the solution to creating a sustainable future. Vehicles on the road are one of the leading factors driving the accelerating carbon emissions in our atmosphere – Volvo has committed itself to the following visions:

  • No one should be seriously injured or killed in a New Volvo Car.
  • We want to give back one week of quality time per year through a New Volvo Car by 2025.
  • Around 50 per cent of the cars we produce and sell will be electric by 2025.
  • At Volvo Cars we innovate for a better life. Our focus is you and your world.

Fully Electric Volvo XC40

In 2019 Volvo revealed its first fully electric vehicle, the fully Electric XC40. Volvo being true to its vision has stated that not only is looking to release its first fully electric vehicle, it is also looking to release one of the safest cars on the road. Volvo have designed a vehicle that keeps both the passenger and the battery safe in the event of a collision. The battery is protected by a frame made of aluminium. The battery has been placed in the middle of the vehicle creating a “crumble-zone” around the battery should any collision happen.

The electric XC40 is no slacker in terms of power. It can reach 100km/h in 4.9s and has an astonishing 300kw of power at the peddle. This is much fast and more powerful than any of its petrol or diesel siblings. The petrol XC40 T5 has 182kw and the diesel XC40 D4 has 140kw. A far cry from the electric model.

There is no word yet in the official launch date of the Electric XC40 in South Africa’s, but it has been slated for a 2021 release.

The Bryanston Country Club hosted one of its annual events called The President Cup this past Sunday, which Volvo Bryanston Sponsored. They invited Volvo along to participate in the event and display our award winning XC range for the duration of the event. This is a 36-hole event hosted in November of every year. There are no divisions and the winner was the player with the best nett overall.

The Bryanston Country Club is well looked after sport/lifestyle facility tucked away in the north suburbs of Johannesburg. Golf courses, Tennis Courts, Squash Courts and The Terrance Café are just some of the few attractions you find at this beautiful venue.

Our dealerships continued support of sporting events is aligned with Volvo’s human-cantered thinking. It also reflects our desire to support people in leading more active lifestyles. The same spirit is seen globally, with numerous Volvo dealers lending their hand to support events that encourage people to be more conscious of the world around them.

As always, we had our XC range on display. Our flagship XC90, The mid-sized award winning XC60 and the XC40, the small SUV that’s big on innovation. Needless to say, they drew a lot of attention. It also gave us the opportunity to showcase the Volvo on Call App and all its features. For the month of November, we are giving our clients more. A look back at the Volvo V40 with CMH Volvo Cars Bryanston
Review by Rokkit

Volvo V40 Front View - V40 end production
Volvo V40 Rear View - V40 end production

The Volvo V40 looks to be Volvo’s last entry in the ever-growing hatchback war. Volvo announced earlier this year that the V40 would no longer be made at the end of 2019 making the 2020 models the last to be produced by the manufacturer. Let’s look back at the V40’s history, features and where you can find one now.

History

The Volvo V40 first appeared at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. It was announced that there would be 2 variations of the V40, namely the V40, and the V40 Cross Country. Both vehicles received praise from vehicle reviewers and consumers alike for its pretty looks and high level of comfort.

Features

The V40 came packed with the same safety features you would come to expect from a Volvo. City safety, leather upholstery, Hill-start assist, USB, AUX, Rain sensors and much more. The one features that did stand out at the time was city safety. City safety was an auto brake technology that assists in reducing or avoiding traffic accidents at speeds up to 30 km/h in vehicles using City Safety Generation I. Later models using City Safety Generation II can stop at 50 km/h.

Where can I find a V40?

It goes without saying that V40’s are now hard to come by. Since Volvo stopped production in late 2019, stock is extremely scarce. Good thing then that CMH Volvo Cars Bryanston still has two 2019 V40 T3 Kinetics and two 2019 V40 D3 Inscriptions on offer.
