Following the unveiling of the Volvo XC40 luxury SUV in September 2017, Volvo Cars South Africa recently announced updates for its range of premium vehicles and the move to hybrid powertrains for the popular Volvo XC40 line-up.

The new models bring benefits such as reduced tailpipe emissions and fuel savings. Every new Volvo sold in South Africa will feature some pinch of electrification.

The Volvo XC40 P8 Recharge is Volvo’s first-ever fully electric vehicle, based on the best-selling XC40 small premium SUV. This is a key moment for the quintessential Swedish brand as it electrifies its vehicle line-up, moving towards the goal of a product line-up that doesn’t use gasoline.

Inside, an innovative approach to all-around functionality provides drivers with plenty of large and smartly designed storage compartments. Not having an internal combustion engine means that the car provides drivers with even more storage space, via a so-called ‘frunk’ storage space under the front hood.

The Volvo XC40 P8 Recharge boasts a 12.3-inch cluster behind the steering wheel and a 9-inch touchscreen on the dash. The new Volvo XC40 P8 Recharge Pure Electric has been launched to the press in South Africa and the car will be offered exclusively online, through the My Volvo online sales platform https://myvolvo.co.za/car/buy. Sales start in May 2021 and the first batch will be delivered in September 2021.

The sleek exterior design of the Volvo XC40 P8 Recharge deserves an interior that matches its image. Not only does the appearance count, but the atmosphere is also important.

Driving the Volvo XC40 Pure Electric is pure enjoyment. Pure electric – sometimes quiet is the most powerful way to go, with zero tailpipe emissions and less noise at all speeds. Powered by a high-voltage battery and dual electric motors, the XC40 P8 Recharge is pure progress for the road ahead.
